Follow up to the earlier story on the criticism that the new Metallica album Death Magnetic has received.
So far, more than 12,500 Metallica fans have signed an online petition requesting that Metallica release a newly remixed or remastered version of the new Metallica album Death Magnetic.

Some Metallica fans are bitterly disappointed: not by the Metallica songs or the performance of the band, but the volume of the new album Death Magnetic. It’s so loud that you can’t hear the details of the music, writes The Wall Street Journal.
Metallica’s Death Magnetic is a flashpoint in a long-running music-industry fight. Over the years, rock and pop artists have increasingly sought to make their recordings sound louder to stand out on the radio, jukeboxes and, especially, iPods. The digital technology made it possible to squeeze all of the sound into a narrow, high-volume range.

The nominations for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum have been announced. Metallica is one of the induction nominees!
Five of the nine nominees will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. That gives a good chance of Metallica making it. The inductees will be announced in January 2009. The 24th Annual Induction Ceremony will be hosted on April 4th 2009 at the Public Hall in Cleveland.

Metallica has kicked-off the tour of USA in support of the new album Death Magnetic. USA is the first leg of the Metallica world tour that has been named “World Magnetic Tour“. The Metallica World Magnetic world tour will go through USA until late January 2009 and will continue with Metallica concert dates in Europe until late July 2009. Late 2008 and the complete 2009 are expected to be filled in with Metallica concerts all around the world.

As mentioned before, Metallica’s Death Magnetic debuted at number 1 position in the UK album charts. The new Metallica album reached the stores in the UK on 10th of September and racked up sales of 75,164 by close of business on Saturday.
Similar story in the USA. In just a three-day sales window, Metallica’s Death Magnetic sold nearly half a million copies and tops The Billboard 200. The band’s first studio album since 2003 moved 490,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Another Metallica backlash has hit the Internet. This time over a very innocent comment from James Hetfield. James, talking to the audience at the London O2 arena, asked the fans to take away their cameras and enjoy the show.
The story was spread around the Internet yesterday, as another one of Metallica anti-Internet stories, this time as Metallica wants to ban YouTube.

UK and London have been celebrating the release of Death Magnetic with two very special London gigs on Sunday and Monday. Sunday night was the very own Metallica night on UK’s biggest national radio station. This included a recording of the intimate gig at the BBC Radio Theatre on Sunday night and a brand new documentary including new interviews with the band.
